FAQ
Questions and answers
The things travellers most often ask us, answered plainly. If yours is not here, write to us: a person replies.
Planning
- Is every journey private?
- Yes. The plan uses private guides, cars and tours that you book for yourselves through our links, never a group tour, so the days can move around you.
- Can I change a journey?
- Yes, and most travellers do. The journeys on this site are starting points: we can add or remove days, change the order, slow the pace or swap a place for another. Tell us what matters to you and we shape it together.
- Can you design a journey from scratch?
- Yes. Choose “Design my own journey” on the request form, or simply write to us. Tell us the places, the season, the pace and how long you have, and we design the days with you.
- How active do I need to be?
- Each journey describes its pace honestly: how much walking there is each day, where there are steps, boats or long drives. Gentle journeys have one to three hours of easy walking a day; Active ones include full days of country walking. If you have any mobility needs, tell us and we will plan around them.
- When is the best time to travel?
- Vietnam is long, so the weather differs from north to south. February to April suits the whole country; October and November are lovely in the North and South but wet on the Central coast. Each journey lists its best months, and our When to go page sets out every month, region by region, with notes for travellers from the UK, North America, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
Price and payment
- What does the price of a tier mean?
- Each journey comes in three tiers: Signature, Heritage and Essential. Any total we show for a tier is an estimate, added up from the providers' listed prices on the day we checked. What you pay is what each provider shows on its own site before you pay, and you can check the same hotel or tour anywhere you like.
- Why is there no total price yet?
- We are still adding up the providers' current prices for our first journeys. Meanwhile every booking link in your plan opens the provider's own page with its live price for your dates, and we can send you an estimate of the total.
- Who do I pay, and when?
- Nothing is charged when you ask about a journey, and Tripora never takes your payment. When your plan is ready, we send it with a booking link for each part. You book and pay each provider (hotel, transfer, private tour) on its own site, and it sends you its confirmation. You pay each provider's listed price; Tripora adds nothing on top, and never asks you for a deposit or a bank transfer.
- Are flights included?
- No. International flights and flights within Vietnam are booked separately. We suggest the flights that fit your journey, and every hotel night in the journey has its booking link in your plan.
- What if I need to cancel?
- Each provider sets the change and cancellation terms for what you book with it, and shows them on its site before you pay. Tripora does not set or change them, but we help you with any request.
While you travel
- Who looks after me during the journey?
- Each provider you booked looks after its part: your hotel, your transfer, your guided day, each with its contact in its confirmation. Tripora stays reachable throughout, by WhatsApp or email, and knows your journey because we planned it with you.
- Do I need a visa?
- Most visitors need a visa, and most can apply online for an e-visa before they travel. Rules change, so please check the official Vietnamese immigration website for your passport before you book flights.
- Do I need travel insurance?
- We strongly suggest it. Choose a policy that covers cancellation and your health while abroad, and take it out before you book the first part.
- How do I reach you?
- Write to us on WhatsApp or by email, or ask for a video call on the request form. A person at Tripora replies within one business hour, between 8:00 and 18:00 Vietnam time (UTC+7), Monday to Saturday.
Comfort on the road
- How hot will it be?
- Vietnam is warm and often humid, and the heat is what most travellers find hardest, more than the walking. We plan sightseeing for the cooler mornings, keep the middle of the day for rest, and every transfer is in a private air-conditioned car. The months listed for each journey are the most comfortable ones.
- How much walking is there?
- Each journey says plainly how much walking there is, where there are steps, boats or uneven ground, and which days are long. Any visit can be shortened or swapped for a drive or a boat. Tell us about any mobility needs and we plan around them.
- What about the food?
- Vietnamese food is fresh and mostly gentle: chilli is usually served on the side. Your guide chooses restaurants they know well, every hotel serves Western dishes too, and you can tell us about any diet or allergy before you travel.
- Is Vietnam safe for visitors?
- Vietnam is generally a calm and welcoming country to travel in. The main things to watch are the traffic and pickpockets in busy places. With a private car door to door and a guide beside you in the old quarters, you rarely handle either.
- Do I need travel insurance?
- Yes, please. Choose a policy that covers cancellation and your health while abroad, and check its age limits and terms. We do not sell insurance, so we cannot advise on a policy, but we will gladly tell you what the journey includes.
